Extends gratitude to Celia Blue who will serve as MassDOT Senior Operations Advisor
BOSTON – Tuesday, March 10, 2015 – Today, MassDOT Secretary and CEO Stephanie Pollack named Erin Deveney to the post of Interim Registrar of Motor Vehicles. The one-year appointment is effective Monday, March 16, 2015. Deveney will succeed Registrar Celia Blue, who will transfer to a new role as MassDOT Senior Advisor for operations assisting Secretary Pollack to facilitate a seamless transition at the RMV. Blue has served as Registrar since Jan. 30, 2014.

“Erin’s deep understanding of the RMV’s systems and employees will allow her to quickly focus on how the Registry can become more convenient and customer friendly,” said Secretary Pollack. “I am excited that Erin is joining our team.”
After graduating from the College of the Holy Cross in 1994, Deveney went on to earn a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in 1997. Deveney comes from the Department of Children and Families, where she served as Interim Commissioner beginning in April 2014.
Immediately prior to joining DCF, Deveney was Chief of Staff at the RMV for five years, and previously served as Deputy Registrar, General Counsel from 2000 to 2005, under Dan Grabauskas.

The Secretary has set a clear goal of moving the RMV into a new era as a customer-focused organization and I look forward to finding new and innovative ways to meet that challenge.”

The Registry of Motor Vehicles consists of 775 employees at 31 branch locations around Massachusetts. The RMV is charged with regulating vehicle registration and operator licensing, as well as oversight and licensing of commercial and non-commercial vehicle inspection stations. Recently, the RMV has expanded its partnership with AAA Northeast, which offers RMV services at a total of 11 locations. More than 35 RMV transactions can also be conducted online at www.MassRMV.com. In 2014, more than 4 million transactions were processed online alone.
