BROCKTON, Massachusetts, Sept. 1, 2026 – InfoHaiti.net – Francine Bonhomme, a longtime member of the Haitian Seventh-day Adventist community in Brockton and a devoted mother, grandmother and community member, died Aug. 22, 2026, at the age of 95. Born in Petit-Goâve, Haiti, on Aug. 24, 1930, she moved to Massachusetts in 1984, where she dedicated much of her life to her family and to the development of the Haitian Seventh-day Adventist community in Brockton.
BIOGRAPHY
Francine Bonhomme (born Deshommes), affectionately known as Mommy Francine or Sr. Bonhomme, passed away on August 22, 2026, leaving a profound legacy of faith and boundless love. Born in Petit-Goâve, Haiti, on August 24, 1930, to the late Josephine Deshommes and the late Judge Monbaucher Charlot, Francine was raised in a deeply conservative circle where she forged the lifelong values that guided her ninety-six years.
She was a consequential and devoted member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Petit-Goâve, a spiritual home she deeply cherished and supported through the final days of her active life in her homeland. In 1984, Francine made the courageous journey to leave Haiti and resettle in Massachusetts. Here, she became the steadfast anchor of her family, working tirelessly to support her loved ones and affectionately caring for her grandchildren.
Her life in Massachusetts was marked by the same profound devotion to her faith. Working hand-in-hand with other like-minded church members, she labored tirelessly to lay the foundational stones of the Temple adventiste de brockton, which has since grown into one of the largest Haitian Seventh-day Adventist churches on the South Shore of Boston MA.
Francine and her late husband, Judge Franck Bonhomme, shared a lifetime of profound devotion, collaborative partnership, and a mutual commitment to raising their children with the highest ethical standards. Together, they raised ten children: Marie-Claire Bonhomme, Alfred Bonhomme and wife Jeanette Bonhomme, Franck Fils Bonhomme and wife Margareth J.B. Bonhomme, Myrlaine Jn-Michel and husband Yves Jn-Michel, Nerlande Joseph and husband Romel Joseph, the late Rotchild Bonhomme, Magalie Derolus and husband Wosney Derolus, Suze Bonhomme, Hugues Bonhomme, and Garvens Bonhomme.
She is also survived by her beloved step-children: Louis Bonhomme, Lyonel Bonhomme, Karl Bonhomme, Regine Cowans and husband Cleo Cowans, Danielle Del Prato and husband François Del Prato, and a large extended family. Her legacy blossomed across generations to include fifteen grandchildren: Marie Karly Jn-Michel, Myrriam Anilus, Peter Bonhomme and wife Jerachmeelle Bonhomme, Stephanie Gabelus and husband John Gabelus, Donald Bonhomme, Ralph Bonhomme and wife Jessica Bonhomme, Myriam Jean-Baptiste, Rachelle Innocent and husband Andrew Innocent , Patricia Gill and husband Kashif Gill, Jules-Romay Joseph and wife Larissa Joseph, Beatrice Bonhomme, Jonathan Derolus, Nathanael Derolus, Garmaienne Bonhomme, and Marvens Bonhomme; and six great-grandchildren: Olivia Anilus, Myah Anilus, Noah Anilus, Leyla Bonhomme, Lia Bonhomme, and Theodore Bonhomme.
Francine’s life was defined by an unshakeable love for God, an unwavering dedication to family, and a genuine, altruistic respect for all. Warm and friendly, she made everyone feel welcome. Whether tending to her garden – where her patience mirrored the way she raised her family – or building communities of faith across two nations, she lived with quiet grace and immense generosity.As we celebrate her remarkable life, we remember a woman who was a true sanctuary of comfort. Her legacy lives on not in material things, but in the lessons of love she taught, the laughter she shared, and the structures of faith she helped build. Though she has returned to her Lord, the seeds of grace she planted across generations will bloom forever.
