Stanley Demesmin: the first Haitian-American Lieutenant of the Boston Police Department (BPD)

After 30 some odd years of services to the Boston Police Department Force (BPD), in the presence of several members of the Haitian Community, the clergy and family members, officer Stanley Demesmin made us proud by becoming the first Haitian American Lieutenant of the BPD at a Promotional and Rating Ceremony, which was held today at the Florian Hall in Dorchester, Massachusetts. The event was hosted by the first African-American Superintendent in-Chief of Boston, William G Gross, with the participation of Mayor Marty Walsh and the Bosto Police Commissioner William B. Evans.

After 30 some odd years of services to the Boston Police Department Force (BPD), in the presence of several members of the Haitian Community, the clergy and family members, officer Stanley Demesmin made us proud by becoming the first Haitian American Lieutenant of the BPD at a Promotional and Rating Ceremony, which was held today at the Florian Hall in Dorchester, MA.

The event was hosted by the first African-American Superintendent in-Chief of Boston, William G Gross, with the participation of Mayor Marty Walsh and the Bosto Police Commissioner William B. Evans. In the words of introduction of Mr. Gross, he said that “the BPD is the first in the nation and the best, also upon calling the second recipient; he declared that Stanley and him were classmate at the academy.”

For the record, Stanley is the youngest brother of the Demesmin’s family; he is the brother of the famous singer and composer Carole Demesmin, nickname Carole Maroule from her first album released. She is also another proud product of Boston. He’s pinned with his badge as Lieutenant by his son, as the first Haitian American Lieutenant in the BPD, which brought tears to the eyes of our Haitian American community grandfather Jacques Borges. When being interviewed by the Haitian Media, his message to the next generation was the following, “Work Hard and dedication is what it takes to be a role model”.

In closing, we present our congratulations to all the 35 recipients of today’s ceremony as Lieutenants, Sergeants, Sergeant Detectives and Detectives, who were promoted on this occasion!
