Boston, May 14, 2016. – JEBCA editions are pleased to announce that readers will be able to purchase the book “Gramè deskriptif kreyòl ayisyen an”, by linguist Jockey Berde Fedexy, during the 22nd edition of Livres en folie. This book, which was launched in October 2015 as part of the month of Creole in Montreal, fills a great void in the syntactic description of Haitian Creole. Indeed, very few authors have studied the description of the different morphosyntactic units of Haitian Creole.
The book stands out in several ways. First, the chapters are organized in sections, with color codes, tables and graphics, so as to promote understanding of the concepts discussed and to highlight the links between these concepts. Then, the author uses a methodology and a clear language which gives the book a very interesting didactic interest for any reader, whether he is a professional of the language or not. She draws her examples from Creole literature, from songs, both traditional and modern, from “lodyans” and from plays, to name but these works. Finally, the book is accompanied by a website, www.ankreyol.net, where readers can deepen their understanding through exercises and online activities.
To quote the doctor in linguistics Renaud Govain, whose preface to the book bears the signature, all those who work on the analysis, description and teaching of Haitian Creole should have the book “Gramè deskriptif kreyòl ayisyen an”.
The author will be signing at Livres en Folie, Port-au-Prince on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 May, at the Colin Hotel in Jacmel on Saturday 28 May and at the Alliance française in Jacmel on Sunday 29 May 2016.
