2 million gourdes to deal with the damage caused by the torrential rains that fell on the country last weekend

During a press conference held at the Prime Minister’s office on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, the Minister of the Interior and Territorial Communities announced the release of an envelope of 52 million gourdes to deal with the damage caused by the torrential rains which descended on several departments of the country, on May 6, 7 and 8, 2016.

The Minister of the Interior, Mr. François Annick Joseph specified that, on all the departments, the authorities counted no less than seven (7) dead, about 3000 families affected, and twenty houses destroyed.

The Minister also reported on the measures taken at the level of the Civil Protection Directorate with a view to supporting and relocating the victims. “We have now entered into a dynamic of reorientation of civil protection. Instead of focusing on relief after damage, we will work more on prevention ”.

“Every Haitian who perishes is one too many victims,” ​​he lamented, before presenting the government’s sympathies to the families of the victims.
