Administration & Finance Secretary Lepore names Carol Gladstone as Commissioner for State buildings

Carol Gladstone to take over Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance

BOSTON – Secretary of Administration and Finance Kristen Lepore today named Carol Gladstone as Commissioner of the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM). Gladstone will begin working as Commissioner on February 26, 2015.  “Carol brings extensive real estate development and project management experience to the position,” said Secretary Lepore. “Her first priority as Commissioner is to conduct a wholesale review of operations with the goal of increasing efficiency and improving performance with our state asset portfolio.”

“I look forward to working with Secretary Lepore and the Baker-Polito Administration,” said Gladstone. “DCAMM should be a strategic partner with our agencies to improve how our real estate assets are used and managed.  I believe we can be more effective in all we do, and we can make a significant difference in helping the Commonwealth get back on track to sound fiscal health and sustainable growth.”

Carol Gladstone has over thirty-five years of experience in both public and private real estate. She has spent the last two years working with non-profit and government organizations as a Principal at Stantec Consulting, an international architecture and engineering firm. In 2000, she co-founded GLC Development Resources LLC, providing real estate development and advisory services; and before that served as the Assistant Receiver for Community and Economic Development for the City of Chelsea during the state receivership of that city. She also spent time in state government as the Director of Real Estate for DCPO (the previous name for DCAMM). She began her career as a project manager at The Beacon Companies, where she was responsible for Rowes Wharf and the Hotel Meridien (now Langham Hotel).
Gladstone is currently Vice-Chair of the Massachusetts State College Building Authority; a Trustee of the Emerald Necklace Conservancy; and Board President of the Brookline Arts Center.

DCAMM is an agency within the Executive Office of Administration and Finance responsible for integrated facilities management, major public building construction, real estate services, and is also responsible for the disposition of surplus real estate owned by the Commonwealth.
