Springfield, MA – Monday, October 19, 2026-   (InfoHaïti.net) – Today, the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts (PFFM) — representing 13,000 firefighters, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics across 237 locals — announced its endorsement of Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll’s reelection campaign.
Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll are committed to supporting firefighters and ensuring they have the resources they need to keep Bay Staters safe. Governor Healey signed the toughest PFAS legislation in the country and opened a new burn building to train firefighters in Bridgewater. She expedited funding for firefighting staffing after the tragic Gabriel House fire, proposed funding to keep Station 9 in New Bedford open, and implemented new statewide fire safety requirements, including annual checks for recalled sprinkler heads. Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll also continue to push for better retirement benefits, more funding for local fire departments, and better access to early-detection cancer screening programs for firefighters across Massachusetts.

“Governor Maura Healey has demonstrated her support for firefighters through actions that deliver real results. She took a personal role in advancing legislation that provides firefighters access to early cancer screenings, signed the ban on PFAS in firefighter protective gear, and allocated funding to help maintain safe staffing levels. Governor Healey’s leadership has advanced protections that will benefit firefighters’ health and wellness and the communities we serve for generations to come,” said Rich MacKinnon, Jr. President of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts. “Governor Healey is a proud supporter of organized labor, and doesn’t shy away from her support of unions and the right to collectively bargain. The Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts is proud to endorse Governor Healey for re-election.”

“This is deeply meaningful to me. I have sat with families of brave firefighters lost in the line of duty. It’s a reminder of the sacrifices our firefighters and their families make to keep us safe every single day,” said Governor Maura Healey. “As Governor, I will never forget what our firefighters do to protect us, and I’ll always have their back – that starts with making sure they have the resources they and their families need. I’m honored to have their support in this race.”

“Maura and I are honored to earn the endorsement of the PFFM. Every day, we lead with a deep appreciation for the public servants who keep our cities and towns safe,” said Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll. “We are committed to fighting for better working conditions, stronger benefits, and the resources firefighters across Massachusetts need to do their jobs safely and effectively.”
