Provisional President Jocelerme Privert took an important step towards the creation of the independent electoral verification commission following a meeting held at the National Palace with representatives of the political class, human rights organizations and civil society on Tuesday April 12. At the end of the discussions, the Provisional President and the participants in this meeting agreed on the formation of a commission of 7 members whose mission will be to finalize the terms of reference of the independent electoral verification commission.
The said commission is made up of: Me. Levelt Fanfan (Pitit Dessalines), Paul Denis (INITE), Yvon Feuille (Fanmi Lavalas), Pierre Espérance (RNDDH), Alain Pierre (COJITH) and two representatives of the presidency. This commission will have 24 hours to submit the conclusions of its work. The Haitian Party Tèt Kale in particular which did not participate in this meeting at the national palace disputes the establishment of an election verification commission arguing that this approach does not appear in the agreement of February 5, including the provisional President Jocelerme Privert is the main instigator.
If for the PHTK and allies, the verification commission does not have its raison d’être, for others it is essential for the continuation of the electoral process
