The “Core Group” asks for a solution that can avoid an institutional vacuum

In a press release, a copy of which has reached infohati.net, the “Core Group” says it expresses its concerns at the lack of measures taken to ensure institutional continuity beyond June 13.

The Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations and the other members of the Core Group (the Ambassadors of Brazil, Canada, Spain, France, the United States of America, the European Union, and the Special Representative of the Organization of American States) indicate that they have taken note of the opening of the second regular session of Parliament, in accordance with the Constitution. “The” Core Group “expresses its concerns at the lack of measures taken to ensure institutional continuity beyond June 13, as provided for in the February 5 Agreement,” said this press release.

The “Core Group” in this press release calls on the National Assembly to act and find a solution that can avoid an institutional vacuum and facilitate the return to constitutional order by holding elections without delay.

As a warning, the “Core Group” urged “all” actors, political parties, candidates and their supporters and any other group to maintain calm and refuse any recourse to violence.
