The Diocese of Santiago, marking its monumental 500th anniversary in 2033, holds a significant place in history as the first diocese in Africa.

The Cardinal’s itinerary includes a series of events aimed at commemorating and reflecting on the rich history and cultural heritage of the Church in Africa. On Friday, the 7th of March, Cardinal Furtado will arrive in Boston, where he will be warmly welcomed by local clergy and dignitaries.
One of the highlights of his visit will be the Gala Dinner scheduled for Saturday, March 9th, in Brockton. This special evening will bring together community leaders, parishioners, and supporters to honor the legacy of the Church in Africa and celebrate its enduring contributions to faith and society.
Additionally, Cardinal Furtado will preside over a solemn Mass at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston on Sunday at 2PM.
